One of the most exciting bands around, the seventeen-piece Toronto All-Star Big Band, joined by the voices of The TABB Five, “cooks” with its powerful tributes to the heady hits of the 1930’s and 40’s. The band is comprised of talented young musicians between the ages of 18-24. Not only has this group rekindled interest in Glenn Miller, Jimmy & Tommy Dorsey, and Benny Goodman classics, but it has also encouraged the resurgence of admiration for the romantic sounds of the dance-band era. The vocalists, The TABB Five, get the audience singing and swinging with the up-tempo harmonies of The Modernaires, Pied Pipers, and the Andrew Sisters. Armed with brilliant programming, slick choreography and witty cultural nostalgia, this vibrant cast of awesome talent has earned its position at the top of the list of many presenters throughout Ontario and the U.S. Theatrical engagements are far-reaching, and recent gigs have included the Niagara-on-the-Lake Peach Festival, Roselawn Centre Jazz & Blues Series, Toronto Beaches International Jazz Festival, New York’s Riviera Theatre and a tour throughout Florida. Sell-out crowds, standing ovations and rave reviews are de rigeur for this all-star ensemble.
