Gino Vannelli is a charismatic, sensuous performer possessing one
of the finest voices in the world. A Montreal native
who grew up steeped in jazz, classical music, and 1960's rhythm
8 blues, his first hit song "People Gotta Move" earned
him his first Grammy nomination. Always an innovator, he was
one of the first artists to use the Moog synthesizer. This led to his second
Grammy Award nomination for his "Storm at Sunup" album. Another Grammy
Award nomination for Best Pop Performance came his way with mega hit "I
Just Wanna Stop". His next big hit "Living Inside Myself" earned a fourth
Grammy nomination. Along the way his recordings also earned 5 JUNO Awards
as Canada's Top Male Vocalist, Canada's Top Producer, and Canada's Recording
Engineer of the Year. Then, at the age of 28, Gino said I Just Wanna Stop.
Although his platinum selling "Black Cars" album and his hit single "Wild
Horses" were huge hits, Gino decided he needed a break from constant touring
to spend time with his wife and newborn son. He and his brother Joe built
a state-of-the-art studio so he could work close to home. He also began
a study of the religions, philosophies, and cultures of the world to enrich
his spiritual self. In 1991, Gino decided to resume live performances after
a 12 year absence from the concert stage. It was a scary
decision. Would audiences be receptive to a more mature performer'?
Would audiences get past their image of Gino Vannelli as a 25 year old
"stud"? You bet they did!!! That year, his world tour of 110 shows rewarded
him with screaming audiences and standing ovations wherever he went. Today,
Gino Vannelli's performances are exquisite. His charismatic stage presence
and amazing vocal range leaves audiences breathless. It is an event! For
an unforgettable evening, Gino Vannelli is the ticket.
