The 3 brothers and 1 sister of The Barra MacNeils have been making
music all their lives. Lessons began at age six, and by age ten, all were
veterans of local and national radio and TV. They began touring and now
have spread the good word about Canada's Maritime music to all corners
of the Earth. Their music pleases the fans of reels and jigs, and opens
the ears of pop fans to the same. In 1995 they won the East Coast Music
Award for "Best Folk/Roots Recording". The group recently toured across
Canada including several opening spots for mega superstar Celine Dion.
