Amy Sky
Canadian Headliner
Here is a very polished, up-and-coming artist. Amy grew up in Toronto's posh Forest Hill area. She graduated from the U. of Toronto with a degree in music theory and composition and promptly enrolled in the University of Rock 'n Roll as a backup singer with the legendary Ronnie Hawkins. After learning about the rigors of the road she moved to Nashville to begin a songwriting career, and later continued on to Los Angeles. For ten year she wrote songs recorded by Anne Murray, Diana Ross, Reba McEntire, Heart, Olivia Newton-John, Belinda Carlisle, Don Johnson, and Roch Voisine. She and her husband, Canadian singer Marc Jordan, wrote the theme "Helping Hand" for UNICEF's 50th. anniversary celebration in 1996. After a few earthquakes, brush fires, and a riot, Amy moved her family back to Toronto in 1996 where she starred in the Royal Alexander Theatre's production of "Blood Brothers" alongside leading man David Cassidy. She also decided to release her own album which garnered 4 consecutive Top 20 Singles and 2 JUNO nominations: "1997 - Songwriter of the Year" and "1998 - Best New Solo Artist". With the release of her second album and a hit single "Love Pain and the Whole Damn Thing", she toured across Canada opening for Roch Voisine.. Her live stage performances reflect her combined experiences as a touring rock 'n roller, a theatrical performer, and a songwriter for the superstars. Tom Harrison of the Vancouver Province wrote "On her way to becoming a mega-smash hit recording star and household name."
Says Rick Overall of the Ottawa Sun "Sky showed that when you're a superb songwriter who also possesses a flawless voice, the combination can be stunning."
